A Must Have
Purchased this yesterday. I think this is a must have in every house with kids (lot of kids). And for a family of 6 like mine, I am glad we bought it yesterday.

It’s a Rossmax nebulizer. Kids are coughing. Although this one is a health stuff, I think homemakers should also invest on things like this.
Abad Santos Cheap Furniture
Where to find cheap furniture in the Philippines?
As a homemaker, I always look for cheap items with high quality. When it comes to furniture, my top choice is not malls but a stretch of furniture shop in Abad Santos in Caloocan. The area is located just below the LRT track. If you are traveling by Public Transport, just ride the LRT and stop at the ABAD SANTOS station. There are more than twenty furniture shops there. The secret to finding the best deal is to ask around first. Canvass the area for the prizes and compare. You can even find baby items there. I bought Chico’s’ first crib there, a wooden crib that is usually priced 5000 Php (plus $100) at malls, but I got there for only 2700 PhP (plus $50). I got it half the mall price. DOn’t expect though that you will get your furniture half the mall price, usually you can get 20% to 40% off the mall price.
Lorenz’s Furniture is a great furniture store in Abad Santos (it is located near Mercury Drug). Below are some of the furniture that can be found there. You can also check their website, Lorenz’s Furniture.
We have been in the area numerous time and as always, we got what we want at the most reasonable price. We got our dinning table there, Chico’s crib, Sati’s crib, our new sala set and even the kid’s supposed to be study table (now a toy storage). If we will have our own house, we will be back there for sure.
Boxes Of Clutter

Declutter. That’s my favorite word, and you will notice that I will use that word so often. I hate clutters and so the only way I can survive is to declutter. last Wednesday while I was looking for something on my closet, I realized that the clothes are not folded correctly. To me, correctly means, the clothes are aligned (not necessarily arranged according to color). Suddenly, I had this compulsion to clean and organize my stuffs. And without thinking, I started rummaging the closet and then the boxes that has been gathering dust, in other words, I started a general cleaning without giving notice to my helpers. That photo above is just an inch of things we needed to organize. We started around 10 AM and ended up at 4. Actually we are not finished yet as there are 3 or more boxes that were left untouched. Those are books and papers and old photos and the likes. I am still looking for a better box for those. From a dozen of boxes, we sized it down to 4. We sorted everything out, big toys goes on one box. Small toys on the other. All bags goes to another box. Some of our clothes that we no longer use or have no plans on wearing for more than 3 months goes into another box. As much as possible, I try to clean at least every 3 months, that’s general cleaning I am talking about.
First Purchase

This is my first house hold purchase of the year. I don’t know, but it seems mosquitoes are having fun roaming around. They are everywhere! I can’t spray insect repellents because it would require us to be outside the house fr 30 minutes. I wish I can have citronella oil, they can scare mosquitoes away and it smells good too, but I don’t where to find it! And so the next best thing is to buy this mosquito catcher. For a first time user, it was fun using it, specially if there a lot of mosquitoes. The mechanism of this house gadget is that the wires are charged with electricity. When the net caught a mosquito, it will experience electric shock and will burn to death. I so hate mosquito so it is fun to hear it the burning sound (zt ztz ztz).
The store personnel said we have to charge it for 16 hours before using. We did and it lasted for 3 days with 1 to 2 hours a day usage. I think this one is very practical to have in your house. It only costs $4. It is mostly available in hardware stores. Go find and have fun catching mosquitoes!
Easiest Way To Do The Laundry
I discovered a treasure when it comes to washing the laundry. It was last year when this product was launched. The DOWNY ISANG BANLAW or DOWNY ONE RINSE fabric conditioner. I was in doubt on the effectiveness of this product. How can a fabric conditioner will make your laundry life easier? Well it says that after washing the laundry with soap, you don’t have to rinse it, all you need is the DOWNY ISANG BANLAW.
My laundry hours shortened from a whole day to 3 hours. This is what I usually do. Wash the clothes. Put the clothes in the dryer and spin it dry for 10 minutes (to drain the soap suds) then soak it in DOWNY ISANG BANLAW for 5 minutes and spin it again and hang to dry. That’s easy!
How To Store Christmas Decors
Now that Holiday season has ended and all things are back to normal, we home makers has to face another season, that is, keeping away the decors and all. It’s tiring to take them all out and it’s tiring to store them but of course the feeling of seeing it, making our house more special is priceless. So how to start undecorating? Is it the Christmas Tree first or the lights first? Or maybe the garland.
My suggestion is that you separate each decors base on where it is decorated. Also separate it base on colors. For example, red balls on the Christmas tree should go to a plastic bag labeled red balls. Green balls should be on plastic bag labeled green balls. And all these plastic bags full of balls should be in a big container labeled CHRISTMAS TREE.
As always, proper labeling is the key. Sorting it out makes it easier for you. Aside from it will give you more room, it would also be an advantage the next Christmas.
Home For 2010
The best way to start the New Year is to make you home a better place to live in. Let’s start with our cupboards. Have you noticed that there are condiments and spices that is now way beyond their expiration date? What are you waiting for? Throw it away, NOW! Are there some chipped off mugs or broken tea cups? This kind of things should have disposed even before the year starts. You know that in Feng Shui, there is a saying that you cannot have something new if you are still keeping the old ones? Like if you are longing for a new LCD TV and yet you are not disposing your old TV that is not working, you won’t have it. Personally I don’t believe it (though there are some feng shui principles that I practice) but the thing is, it is very logical to throw away things that are not working.
Work out your kitchen, make every thing looks new and shiny. Redecorate it and reinvent it. For us home makers, kitchen is the most useful thing. Here in my house, I work on the dinning table, I prepare our dishes on the dinning table. I serve my family with the help of my kitchen. It is just right to make the kitchen more organize and more homey. If you own your house, you can repaint the area or you can also change the counter tops or add some new racks. If you are like us, renting, you can try re organizing the pots and the your casseroles. You can also add some racks for new acquired kitchen gadgets (from Christmas parties and family gifts).
You can also try reinventing your house, make it more natural and airy. Use natural products and warm colors like green and brown. Also add some plants inside the house, it keeps the air cleaner and as much as possible stay away from using chemical based air freshener and house fragrant. This year, I hope we can all make our home and lives a lot better than last year.
HAPPY NEW YEAR HOME MAKERS!
