Towel Warmers

May 31, 2010 under Uncategorized | No Comment Yet

I have been hearing about towel warmers and since this is another house thingy, why not discuss it here? Right? Yeah.

When you use a towel, it is a bit uneasy to use one that is damped and cold, specially if the weather is cold. Imagine, how your body enjoyed a long and very relaxing warm bath then you would suddenly wrap it to a damp and cold towel. It’s like taking apidexin for weeks and suddenly your partner will cook a lot of sweet and fatty dishes. It’s like you worked so hard and you will be rewarded by nothing. That’s where towel warmer enters (and self control in terms of diet LOL). It is a stainless rack that warms up your towel. And with the kind of device installed in your home, you wouldn’t dread your towel moments.

Study Table For Kids

May 30, 2010 under Uncategorized | No Comment Yet

With the school year fast approaching, I am sure most parents are concerned on weather to buy study tables for their kids or not. And with so much study tables on the market, most of us are confuse on what’s the best table for our kids.

I guess having their own study table somewhat encourage the kids to learn more and be more organized and responsible with their things. It can also cultivate Independence and of course it will be fun for them to think that also have their own “office” like their mom and dad.

Buying a study table should not be a hassle specially in terms of finances. You can go look for a cheaper but comfortable table. If your money won’t allow you, don’t go looking for tables that looks like or almost like a complicated office space. A strong and sturdy flat table is all you need and some creativity from you and you’re all good.

Magnetic Wall Paint

May 30, 2010 under Renovation | No Comment Yet

I used to watch home and garden shows in my local channel and one the most interesting stuff I saw was the sue of magnetic wall paints for a kid’s room. The paint was used so that the kids can attached or stick magnetic stuffs on the wall. Now it makes me think of it is safe on the wall. And it makes me want to have a wall painted with magnetic paint so I can stick there the list of diet pill that works, that I found on the net. I will be needing that list when I am done breastfeeding. Magnetic boards are really cool, no more hassle of using tapes or post it note or thumb tacks (which never fails to hurt my feet).

The first question is, if it safe to use in the house? And based on some readings I got, yes it is as it does not contain lead. And it being safe to use near computers and speakers (for magnet purpose), the answer is yea again as the mechanism of the magnetic paint wall is much the same as it is on refrigerator wall.

The magnetic wall paint is also easy to apply. All  you need to do is use the paint as the base of your wall paint. So after applying the magnetic paint, you put another latex paint on it.

The best thing about this magnetic wall paint is the unending fun it can give to your kids as they stick their artworks on their walls. And of course to you as you stick your to do list, list of any list and all reminders in your wall.

Air Coolers

May 30, 2010 under Air Coolers, Appliance | No Comment Yet

We were talking about air conditioner and air coolers and the difference of the two. Of course the price is the major difference. Which led us to our question, why is it that air coolers are way cheaper than air conditioner?

The usual air cooler is not worth a bullion(precious metals such as gold or silver in the form of bars or ingots), it is somewhere between $70 to $100, while an air conditioner is somewhere between $200 and up. with the price difference of the two, is it practical to go for air coolers instead of air conditioner?

From my readings, I have learned that air coolers are devise that cools the air using water or ice. And from the looks of it, air conditioner is still the best option if you want to be cool amidst the scorching heat of summer. And some even suggest that instead of buying an air cooler, buy a fan instead and just put an ice on its back, it works almost the same as air cooler.

Walis Tambo

Walis is broom stick. And walis is a part of every Filipina homes. I heard about stories of Pinay living in abroad and still uses walis instead of vacuum. And if yuo ask me, nothing swipes better than our walis.

Have you ever wondered what is the history of our broomstick?

I know it was made out of grass, and not just ordinary grass. This kind of grass grew most in high places like Baguio, that’s why Baguio is the haven for walis tambo.

The grass’s flower was the part that is made into walis tambo. It was dried and put together then a stick about 2 feet was tied to it.

The cost of walis tambo difers from the thickness of of the grass, the thicker, the more expensive.

Buyer’s Biggest Turn Off

May 27, 2010 under Real Estate | No Comment Yet

When you want to sell your house, there are things that you need to consider before putting your house in the market. One of the first thins you should think is the marketability of your house and if it is presentable enough. Buyers don’t just click when you say click here. it means, buyers do not buy when you say your house is for sale. Buyers look around, inspect and ask a lot of questions. And below are the biggest turn off of a buyer when they go visit a house for sale:

  1. Clutter
  2. Wall needs to be painted, chipped off wall paintings
  3. Dirty bathroom
  4. Bad smell
  5. Worn out flooring

The things I listed above are based on my perspective as a buyer. Come on, who would want to buy a house full of clutter? Or a smelly house, certainly not me. How about you? What is your biggest turn off in when looking for a house?

When To Change Appliance

May 27, 2010 under Appliance | No Comment Yet

Appliances is like weight loss supplements, once you found the perfect one for you, it will take years before you change it. Years of course depends on the type of appliances. So do you know when is the right time to ditch the old appliances? Well, I asked around and some appliances store shared with me the life expectancy of certain appliances.

Dishwasher takes 10 years before it starts throwing off your plates. Just kidding, but after 10 years, consider changing your dishwasher.

Refrigerator takes 11 to 12 year before it starts malfunctioning. So before it stops cooling your food, buy a new one on its 1oth birthday.

Microwave can last up to 10 years. SO on its 11th year, say goodbye to your popcorn, not unless you already bought a new one.

So far those are the appliances I asked the last time I went to the nearest appliance store here. Will post more on  my next visit.
