We’re starting a new habit and that is reading. I want my kids to love reading as much as I do so I am exposing them to books and books. And you know what comes next with books, book shelf! For now, we’re using an old cabinet as book shelf but our book collection is growing every week and we will be needing a bigger book shelf soon!

Looking at the furniture store, I found a great selection of book shelf. Some were priced at a little over 1000 PhP and some were over 2000 PhP. I am considering of buying a medium case book shelf. Like the photo below:

I would love to buy book shelf that’s trendy and multi functional but for now, this one will do.

We have been planning to move the two older boys on a room of their own. But the boys were not ready yet. I have been talking to them the advantage of having their own room but they are not buying it. I also showed them really nice beds and bunk beds that they can choose from but no, their answer is still the same, they are not ready yet.

So for now, I have to put off my dream of buying a new bed for us, I have been rooting some white gloss beds that I saw on the internet and really fell in love with some of the beds. Since the boys won’t be moving out really soon, our room space cannot accommodate bed with a frame (we’re not using bed frames since we two beds with frame will not fit on the room).

Bu I do enjoy window shopping for furniture, specially bedroom furniture. Whenever I visit malls, it is in my routine to drop by at the furniture store. I love looking at the beds and learning about the furniture. I specially like it when they sell bigger sized beds as it is not often that I see California King size beds (on of my dream bed). The usual size I see on malls where Queen sized beds and of course, double and single.

Bedroom is the part of the house where we can sleep, relax and be worry free. And to make this happen, you need invest in a good bed as well as a good mattress. And here are some practical tips that can be very useful if you are shopping for bed frame and mattress.

Bed frames have different sizes. The size ranges from single which typically measure 36×75 feet. There’s twin bed which measures 48×75 inches. Next is Queen size which is 54 inches by 75 inches and the last one is king size which usually measures 75×78. inches. The length of bed is mostly 75 inches but in some countries it can go to as long as 78 inches and 80 inches. The sizes of single bed to queen size are standards in most country where as king size differs from different countries. California king size bed is the largest measuring 72 inches by 84 inches.

When choosing bed frame, you have to consider your size and how you sleep. If you sleep like a log and never moves while sleeping, then a twin sized bed is ideal for you. But if you’re a mover, you may want to opt for a queen sized bed or a king sized. It follows that when buying the mattress for your bed frames it should be of the same size. Now the only thing you need to consider is the type of mattress that you will buy. Will you go for a spring mattress or foam mattress and how thick it should be. Deciding on the type of mattress is again up to your sleeping patter.

The kids are growing bigger and since the apartment we are renting has 2 bedrooms and the other bedroom has been used as storage, we decided it is about time for them to sleep on their own bedroom. There are some things yet that I need to buy and fix before that can happen. I list down the things that we needed to transform the other room into kids bedroom:

Frame: 6500
bed (mattress): 3000
aircon: 15,000- 18,000
curtains, bed sheet etc: 3000

Total amount would be more or less 30,000 PhP

The first thing that I canvass was bed. I saw a double deck bed in a department store, 8000 PhP, mattress not included. The I browsed on the web and saw really nice double deck and cost a bit less than the one I saw in the department store:

bed photos: http://nemiefurniture.multiply.com/

All these beds are a little above 7000PhP.

I have thinking if I will get a double deck or a pull out bed for the kids. Double deck is very practical and space saver but the boys move a lot when they are asleep and I am afraid whoever sleeps on the upper bed might fall. Pull out bed is not that much of a space saver and it might not survive the pull and push activity but I guess this is a safer choice.

I also have to make way for the Mega Blocs which I plan to use as toy cabinet. If the boys room is finished, I will have enough space for another closet or cabinet where I can place my titanium bracelet and jewelries as well as my other things.

Remember I posted that in Walmart you can find great kiddie bed selection? Well, I find the great bed for my boys! While we were talking, they mentioned that when the time comes that they need to sleep on their own bed, both of them wants to be on th upper bed. And I just knew bunk bed is the answer. The photo in my last post was a blah blah compare to this. This bunk bed was so organized that it also has a study table. The seems to be like a drawer on the left side is actually a table. The kids can use it and after they did, they can just put it under their bed. It’s a space saver bed too! Another thing that I like about this bed is the ladder which is not that steep and tall. The shelf beside the table is another cool feature of this bed.

At Walmart, this bed is priced at $459.88, I wonder how much this kind of bed is here in our country. Maybe around 20-30K PhP is my guess, or even more since our import tax here is high. It also says in the product description that this bunk bed comes in 3 separate boxes and needs to be assembled. I need 3 of this bed!

As a work at home mommy, I finally realized (yes it took me some years and a lot of back ache) that I need to invest in a good computer table and a good computer chair. Right now, I am using a good old office table from my husband’s old office. It’s big and spacious and I like the height of it. Another thing, I also like the edge of this table as it is round. The feel of the edge is not rubbing against my wrist and arms. I am now contented with my table but if I would want to change, I would opt for Howard computer cabinets. It’s can save a lot of space and it’s very tidy too. As with the chair, I am currently using one of th chairs of our dinning table. I badly need a computer chair. The one with a good arm rest and a good back support.

For those working at home moms, invest in a good furniture to help you work better. A nice table and a comfortable chair can really make a huge difference.

House with kids needs a lot of adjustment and one of the things you need to think of is buying the appropriate appliances and furnitures. Take for example cabinets, you would not buy a cabinet for your phenphedrine that can be easily reach by the kids. Let’s dwell on Living room set and what are the few tips we should know when buying a Sala Set.

First and foremost, you have to consider the size of your living room. Of course! There is no reason to buy a sala set that will leave you walking in the air.

Another thing to consider is the type of material used. If you have kids, expensive sofas are discouraged.

And as always, budget should be your consideration too.
